Health & Welfare Plan Legislative Round-Up: Important updates to COBRA and reimbursement accounts

Thursday, May 21 | 2:00 PM EST

Over the last few weeks, the government introduced legislation that had a significant impact on the employee benefits landscape. The Final Rule/Joint Notice provided extensions to claim filing deadlines and COBRA timelines.  IRS Notices 2020-29 and 2020-33 allows for employers to adopt plan provisions to provide relief and flexibility to Section 125 and FSA elections.  The intent of these changes is to help individuals deal with the burdens of COVID-19; however, the effect is complicated for employers and administrators.

Join Sentinel's Scott Riordan for a discussion of the implications of these changes related to COBRA, FSAs, HRAs and HSAs, including:

  • A summary of the changes introduced in the Final Rule/Joint Notice and IRS Notices 2020-29 and 2020-33
  • An overview of how Sentinel is planning to handle these changes
  • A review of action items required by employers, employees, and Qualified Beneficiaries
  • Q&A
